With very much grief and pain we have received the news of the brutal murder of Marwa El-Shirbiny in the German court. We ask of Allah to accept Marwa as a martyr for she was a defender of her very right of choosing her way of life. We ask Allah to grant her family patience to overcome this difficult situation. This radical extremism we have seen has reminded us of the brutal murder of van Gogh. Yet the reaction of the European communiies was in all ways different this time.
Thus, we need to reemphasize the fact that all religions and universal values come to agreement on that the human life is sacred. Marwa’s life is as much sacred and treasured as any other human being. This accident reminds us of the negative attitude that was prevalent in the German and European societies 70 years ago.
There are some questions that seeks an answer:
We hence call the human being inside each European citizen, politicians, we call upon NGOs and media to acknowledge and resist the rise of islamophobia in Germany, Europe and the west in general. We should all stand against the racism that Muslims face in some segments of the European societies. This reminds us of a due appreciation to the efforts already taken in this regard.
We call upon the German judicial system to apply the fiercest laws on the murderer.
We call upon the Muslim societies and in particular the youth and student organisations all over the world to react calmly and voice their anger only in the frame of law and by peaceful means.
We are putting forth our hands for all powers of society all over the world, also in the west, to work together in fighting any kind of racism, Islamophobia and violence against innocent people working for a more just and peaceful world that human kind deserve.
